The Political Giant "Rotimi Amaechi" ministerial screening postponded.

The Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, said that this became necessary because the Senate Committee on Ethics and Privileges which received a petition against Mr. Amaechi’s nomination was yet to summit its report.
The Senate Ad-hoc Committee on Ethics and Privileges had on Monday suspended consideration of the petition against the ministerial nomination of Mr Amaechi.
This, according to the committee, was because the matter was being considered in court. The Chairman of the committee said on Monday that the ruling was in accordance with the rules of the Senate
Rivers State Panel of Inquiry had indicted the former governor for involvement in what the government called fraudulent transactions.
This was following the report of the 30-day sitting of the Justice George Omeregi-led panel, set up to investigate the sale of state assets.
The state’s Attorney-General was mandated to start legal processes against Amaechi and some other former political office holders to refund over 97 billion naira allegedly misappropriated in the sale of the state valued assets.
Three Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senators from Rivers State had argued before the Senate that the nomination of Amaechi as a minister was questionable.
However, 18 of the 37 ministerial nominees from the list submitted by President Muhammadu Buhari were confirmed by the Senate on Wednesday.         Ref. : Channelstv
